Shelle has put together some common myths

Myth #1

Myth:

All religions are the same, all roads lead to heaven.

Fact:

This is a huge deception. All roads do not lead to heaven and all religions are not the same. The fact is Just knowing that God exists is not enough even Satan knows that. We must surrender believing Jesus Christ is exactly who He says He is. Jesus says, He is the Son of God. Fully man and Fully God. He said He alone has the power to forgive sins and give eternal life.

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”1 Timothy 2:5 esv

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” -Acts 4:12 esv

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. ” -Ephesians 2:8-9 esv

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6 esv

“And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ” -Acts 2:38 esv

“Are there still some among you who hold that “only believing” is enough? Believing in one God? Well, remember that the demons believe this too—so strongly that they tremble in terror!” -James 2:19 tlb

Myth #2

Myth:

God knows my heart. He will understand

Fact:

You are right God does know your heart that’s why He sent Jesus to die for your sins. Mankind (that includes you) have a heart that wants to go its own way. But God’s Way is different than mankind’s way. Our sinful heart is what seperates us from God.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” -Jeremiah 17:9-10 esv

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.” – Proverbs 21:2 esv

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Isaiah 59:2

Myth #1

Myth:

How can a loving God send people to hell?

Fact:

The truth is God is a just God. He has given every person the same opprotunity to have Salvation. When we choose to walk away from Him, He keeps reaching out for us. But when we run out of time either through death or in His return, we die with the debt of sin and have to pay the penalty for our sin, which is permenant seperation from God. Perminant seperation from God is in a real place called Hell.

“Don’t you realize how patient he is being with you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see that he has been waiting all this time without punishing you, to give you time to turn from your sin? His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance. But no, you won’t listen; and so you are saving up terrible punishment for yourselves because of your stubbornness in refusing to turn from your sin; for there is going to come a day of wrath when God will be the just Judge of all the world..” -Romans 2:4-5 (TLB)

Here Are Some Truths You Should Know

Shelle has put together some truths that she would like to share with you

Truth #1

Truth # 1

All human beings were created to be eternal beings

All human beings were created to be eternal beings. You will either be eternally with Jesus in Heaven or eternally separated from God in Hell. By default we belong to Hell as this is the penalty for our sin. No matter how small that sin may be.

Truth # 2

Truth # 2

Physical Death Is Real

Do you know where you will go when you die? There is only one way to ensure that we will live our eternity with our Creator. . . That is to accept the gift of Salvation given through Jesus Christ.

Truth # 3

Truth # 3

Admit that you need Him !

We have to admit that we need Jesus in our lives. Much like an alcoholic admits they drink too much, we have to admit we need to be saved from our sin. AND ONLY JESUS CAN DO THAT! Ok, I know it seems that God is just waiting to condem and punish you. But its not the case. God showed His deep love for you when He sent His very own son to lay down His life just for you. Because He wants you with Him for all eternity. Why does He want you with Him? Because He just wants to love on you for all eternity. It can’t get better than that.

Truth # 4

Truth # 4

Believe

You could find a million reasons why you shouldn’t come to God through Jesus His Son… But you only need to believe in one reason why you should… Because Jesus is reaching out to you to save your soul. He’s offering redemption through His birth, death, and resurrection.

Truth # 5

Truth # 5

Your Sin

You must believe that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus Christ in your life to make your life better. Savior is Jesus Christ. See, because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death.  This means eternal separation from God in Hell.

“For the wages [payment] of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

Truth # 6

 Truth # 6

Jesus Paid For Us!

Sometimes we feel that our lives belong to us, our kids, the man in our life, work, etc. But it doesn’t, Jesus paid for each human beings life with His own. And because of this sacrifice that was paid, all human beings are eligible to receive Salvation. We only need to.

Hell is a real place and you need to know that we all are headed  there unless we get right with God.

š“We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.” -Romans 3:22

š“ . . . it is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

Listen, God does love you. No matter what life, people, and situations have led you to believe. He loves you enough that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. “ . . . He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Truth # 7

Truth # 7

God’s Plan For You

God’s Plan for your life is not rocket science. He just wants you to spend eternity with Him. And how do you put that plan into motion well that’s simple too. You simply believe Jesus died in your place, for your sins. That means all the stuff you’ve done that you weren’t supposed to, all the stuff that you’ve done to hurt other people, all the evil things you’ve thought about, and all the stuff that no one knows about but you and God.

š“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16 (NIV)

So you’re saying alright, I get it, I’m going to hell, now what…
Jesus not only died for your sins but on the 3rd day, He rose again by the power of God to live and be your high priest. I know this sounds crazy but it’s true, you must believe this to have eternal life. If you believe on Him (Jesus) as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith is yours free and clear.

Truth # 8

Truth # 8

You Have A Choice To Make

Now you know the truth… You can dismiss it as a bunch of crap. But it doesn’t change that the truth is TRUTH.

Do not trust your feelings! They change. Stand on God’s promises and His Truth. It never changes. šNow its all up to you.

Are you ready to handle the eternal consequences of your choice? If you choose to accept the truth there is only one thing left for you to do…

Ask Jesus Christ Into Your Life. How do you ask Jesus into your life? You ask through prayer. Now don’t worry if you feel that you: can’t pray; not any good at it; never prayed before; or don’t know how, prayer is just a conversation between you and God. You can ask God into your heart by simply talking to him. And the great thing is you can talk to Him whenever, wherever, or however you want and He will listen.

Here is a sample prayer: “Lord Jesus, I need you. I have sinned against you. I repent of those sins and ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and that you rose again on the 3rd day. I believe that you are fully man and fully God. I believe as God you came to earth as a man God’s Son to die for my sins. I ask that you would come into my life as my Savior.-AMEN

šDoes this prayer express the desire of your heart? š If it does, pray this prayer right now, and Christ will come into your life, just as He promised.

The Church

Get into a Bible based church. When I say Bible based that means that the church believes and preaches all 66 books of the Bible. They believe in the Gospel as expressed in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and John 3:16. Remember the church is made up of imperfect people so don’t put your faith in them keep your faith in the perfect Jesus. Just expect accountability in love for sin.

One thing you must know is that the CHURCH is actually within each of us. The church is the collective of Believers/Christians. Its not a building. The building is just where Christian come together to meet and worship God.

“Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

-Ephesians 2:20-22 esv

Get Dunked

“And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
-Acts 2:38 esv

Well, now that we know God’s Word tells us to be baptized lets think about what baptisim its.

Baptisim is the first act of obedience that we can do as a Christian. It is an outward expression of an inward change. Baptisim does not save you. However it does symbolizes Christ’s blood washing away our sin.

Think of it this way: We get into the water symbolizing our coming to Jesus as a sinner. The Pastor submerges us in the water, symbolizing our old life before Christ in our lives as dead. Then the Pastor pulls us up from the water symbolizing our new birth in the family of Christ. And as the water falls from our bodies it symbolizes Jesus washing away our sins through His shed blood.

Now that’s why its important to get baptized. So everyone can know you have made a choice to follow Christ Jesus.

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

– Luke 9:25-26 esv

Truth # 12

Truth # 12

Learn

Read your Bible. It is the Living Word of God. The Bible has a lot to offer, its where we go to learn about our Christian history; We find out how to please God and who He is;We learn about His Son Jesus and what He’s done for all mankind; And the Bible is where we go for guidance, strength and to hear God speak to our spirit.

Now let’s get real for just a moment. Reading the word can be hassel at first. Satan tries his very best to keep us from having time, he wants us to think of it as boring, or tell us “why read it, you won’t understand it”. But reading the Bible is like anything else the more you do it the better you get at it.

Read your Bible as often as possible. Measure everything about right and wrong by it. There are many biblical resources online as well j4us.com, biblegateway.com, gotquestions.com, openbible.info to just name a few. Each of these offers a different kind of Christian resource.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 esv

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures
Luke24:45

Connect

Find a way to fellowship/hangout with other Believers/Christians. This is important because God calls us to associate with God’s people you grow, you have a chance to help, and you find strength.

I know, people are prickling, but don’t isolate yourself because of Christians behaving badly as with everything you have those that take their walk with Christ seriously and those who don’t. You want to gravitate to those who can help you grow spiritually. Remember people are human and just like you they are prone to messup so keep your eyes on Christ not people.

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” -Matthew 18:20

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 esv

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
1 Peter 3:8 esv

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
1 John 4:11-13

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25 esv

Truth # 14

Truth # 14

Grow

Now that you are a Christian you will need to mature as a Christian.  We want to grow from a baby Christian to an adult Christian.

That means that you are allowing the Holy Spirit to bring to your attention the things that He wants to change in you. You are learning through God’s Word those things that please God. And you are purposfully seeking to please God. You are allowing the Holy Spirit’s prompting to tell you what you should and should not be doing.

This doesn’t mean that any of us will be perfect and sinless, for that won’t happen till we get to Heaven.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6

But it does mean that we want to live lives that don’t bring shame to God’s Name. So often people profess Christ and yet you see no trace of Him in their lives. We want to make every effort to live a life that lets the world know we are followers of Christ Jesus.

God doesn’t want us to stay baby Christians forever…”For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
-Hebrews 5:2-14 esv

But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.  I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready,  for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?
I Corinthians 3:1-3

Don’t be discouraged. You will fall from time to time but repent (ask for forgiveness) and seek to be restored through Christ. Satan will tell you, you are no longer saved, God doesn’t love you but truth is nothing can separate you from God’s love nor can anything take your salvation away. And with those words keep on keepin on. Let your faith grow and your life start to transform to what God wants it to be.

“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”
1 Peter 2:2-3

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it,to the praise of his glory.”
Ephesians 1:13-14

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”
2 Peter 3:18

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. “
John 10:28

Communicate

Communication is essential to any good long lasting human relationship. The same holds true with your relationship with God.

Pray/talk to God consistently. Asking for His opinion, His guidance, His Will, His help, His understanding, and wisdom.

Prayer doesn’t need to be filled with fancy words or lots of thee’s and thous. The truth is you simply need to share your heart and mind with God.

Prayer is for our benefit. God already knows our needs, our dreams, our hopes, fears, problems, and struggles. So don’t be sheye.

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Jeremiah 33:3 esv

Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Matthew 6:9-13 esv

“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
Luke 6:27-28 esv

The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 15:29 esv

My Prayer For You

Lord please bless this new life in you help them to walk in your ways. Teach them what pleases you. Lord don’t let our enemy and yours Satan sift them like wheat. I pray that life would not cause their faith to weaken or dissipate. Let their faith and love for you grow each and everyday. In the name of Jesus Amen
